VIETNAM EVISA – ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW

What is VIETNAM EVISA?

Vietnam E-visa stands for "Vietnam Electronic Visa" (symbolized as EV), issued by the Vietnam Immigration Department starting from February 2017.
It was temporarily suspended due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and reopened from March 15 2022. It is a legal permit for foreigners to enter Vietnam with a period of 30 days. This type of visa is issued online and is the newest form of Visa in Vietnam.

WHY E-VISA?

When there is no E-visa, all passengers use Visa On Arrival which will have ticker in their passports. The applicant must fill in the visa application form to get the visa approval letter, after getting the visa approval letter will pay additional stamping fee at the Embassy or at the airport to get the actual visa (sticker) stamped on their passport. This is a common process for all kind of visas when a person who wants to enter another country is required to pass an identity check.
However, when travel needs are increasing, especially for sightseeing purposes, tourists have to comply with a lengthy process that takes time to travel and wait for a paper visa (Visa On Arrival). With the issuance E-visa, applicants can do it anywhere as long as there is an internet connection and receive their E-visa right on their computer, just need to print out, board the plane and through the border gate.
E-visa not only brings convenience to customers but also to the arrival country. They reduce the administrative workload by cutting down the steps of receiving applications, reading each application, entering information, issuing decisions...
In the information age, when all information is gradually encrypted, letting customers fill out electronic forms themselves will simplify things that don't need to be complicated for low-risk nationality groups.

Who can apply for E-visa to Vietnam?

Currently, Vietnam Government accepts Evisa for citizens of 80 countries to Vietnam, regardless of purposes such as tourism, commercial investment, visiting relatives, working, getting married, etc… and stay for no more than 30 days.
